GLOSSARY

EN 60204-1

EN 60204-1 is the standard covering the electrical equipment of machines: supply isolation, control circuits, e-stop functions and verification testing.

The 2018 edition’s Section 18 sets the tests: protective bonding continuity, insulation resistance and functional checks, repeated where equipment is modified or installed on site. A manufacturer’s test certificate does not cover the site installation, a point that catches people out.
