Supply of Machinery (Safety) Regulations 2008

The Supply of Machinery (Safety) Regulations 2008 are the UK’s implementation of the Machinery Directive and apply to anyone placing machinery on the market or building machinery for their own use.

They require a risk assessment, technical file, Declaration of Conformity and conformity marking, with fines or imprisonment for breaches. They are being amended to reflect the 2027 changes and to operate as GB-only law, with Northern Ireland following the EU Regulation.
