Technical File

The technical file is the evidence pack behind a CE or UKCA mark: drawings, calculations, the risk assessment, standards applied and test results.

It has to be kept for at least ten years after the last unit is placed on the market, and gaps tend to surface at the worst possible moment, after an incident or a market surveillance challenge. Knox Thomas offers a free technical file checklist.
