GLOSSARY

UKCA Marking

UKCA marking is Great Britain’s post-Brexit conformity mark, introduced in 2021 as the domestic equivalent of CE marking.

Because GB has since decided to recognise CE marking indefinitely, UKCA is in practice optional for machinery, and from January 2027 either mark remains acceptable on the GB market. Northern Ireland stays with CE under the Windsor Framework.

Other Terms

Guard Locking

Guard locking keeps an interlocked guard locked shut until the machine inside has come to a complete stop and the guard has been released by a control device.
