Conformity Assessment

Conformity assessment is the process a manufacturer follows to demonstrate machinery meets the law before placing it on the market.

The route: identify the legislation that applies, meet the essential requirements (standards give a presumption of conformity), compile the technical file, issue the Declaration of Conformity and affix the mark. Most machinery is self-certified; only certain high-risk categories need a notified or approved body.
