GLOSSARY

Machinery Safety Audit

A machinery safety audit checks your machines against PUWER and current standards and ends in a prioritised, risk-rated action plan.

Done properly it happens on the shop floor, and the findings come back as a short, workable action plan. Knox Thomas audits machinery across the UK and publishes a free auditing e-guide and PUWER checklist.

Other Terms

Interlocking Device

An interlocking device links a guard to the machine’s controls so the machine cannot run while the guard is open, and will stop if the guard is opened during a hazardous movement.
