GLOSSARY

Pressure-Sensitive Mat

A pressure-sensitive mat stops the machine when someone stands on it, a guard for floor areas where beams and fences are impractical.

Mats give whole-body detection around a hazard zone and are sized so nobody can reach the danger point before motion stops. They form part of the safety-related control system, so their reliability is rated like any other safety function.

Other Terms

Guard Locking

Guard locking keeps an interlocked guard locked shut until the machine inside has come to a complete stop and the guard has been released by a control device.
