GLOSSARY

Safety Laser Scanner

A safety laser scanner sweeps a laser across an area and slows or stops the machine when someone enters the zones it has been set to monitor.

Scanners typically run a warning field that slows the machine and a protective field that stops it, which makes them common around robot cells and mobile platforms. Like light curtains, their positioning comes from EN ISO 13855.
