Risk Reduction

Risk reduction is the process of driving machinery risk down to an acceptable level; design measures come first and PPE comes last.

EN ISO 12100 sets the order of attack: design the hazard out first, safeguard what remains, then rely on information, training and PPE last. A short list of well-chosen actions gets done; a sea of minor ones tends to get ignored.
