GLOSSARY

Guard Locking

Guard locking keeps an interlocked guard locked shut until the machine inside has come to a complete stop and the guard has been released by a control device.

It is used where run-down time means a hazard outlasts the stop command, or where someone could reach the danger zone faster than the machine can stop. The lock only releases once safe conditions, usually standstill, are confirmed.
